A subject dedicated to teaching Nigeria history, how to become active citizens and also encourages participation in social and civic duties. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have a subject in the Nigeria educational system taught right from primary level of education that targets the root of the nation&#8217;s problem, yet we are asking whose NIGERIA?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The last line of the national anthem says \u201cOne nation bound in freedom, peace and unity\u201d but all what the country is bound with is \u201cinsecurity, unemployment, corruption, bad leadership, bloodshed, hunger, tribalism and the list goes on. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell me, whose Nigeria? Is it a country in which its government prioritized the wants of its 1% citizens over the interest of the remaining 99%? Whose Nigeria? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or a country where the average man has to double-check his surroundings before he can sleep?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How can we forget the case of bandits and kidnappers. The average Nigerian cannot travel by road without fearing for his\/her life.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indoor, or outdoor, nobody is SAFE!!!!!! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is Nigeria still for us? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hausa against Igbo, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Igbo against Yoruba, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yoruba against Fulani, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fulani against Igbo!!!!. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These tribal wars are gradually becoming the new norms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Where then is the oneness we keep talking about? <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are now at the point where checking political leaders isn&#8217;t based on <\/span><b>credibility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but on, \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is my brother\u201d, \u201cwe come from the same state\u201d, \u201dShe practices my religion\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who is this brother?, a candidate without a vision, empty promises and unrealistic manifesto. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That is the person we are now electing to build a NIGERIA we want? Can this mindset give us this change?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Karl Popper, a philosopher, wrote, <em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><em><b>It is wrong to ask who will rule. The ability to vote a bad government out of office is enough. That\u2019s democracy<\/b><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can you and I vote for a government based on credibility and not favoritism, nepotism or tribalism? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can Sulaiman from Kano vote for Obonomamwam from Edo because he believed in her vision and Iremide vote for Chinedu from Enugu because she knows he has the right skills for that position?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have a dream which is to see a better NIGERIA.
